For residents of the Frost and Blooming Grove, it will be a gridiron battle that nobody likes to have ever seen.
Well, not in the last 20 years at least.
When the adjacent cities meet on Blooming Grove high school next month, it will mark the first area Alumni soccer games — full pads, full contact — for graduates of the respective schools.
A time-and-for-all settlement of all the poker table compete.
The idea, by an organization called the United States, Alumni Football was started by Northern California coach almost 20 years ago.It first took root in Texas last september, starting early in the year and growing by the month. Two area games is scheduled this year between the Lions and Bears, as well as Dawson and rice.
The organization provides pads, officials, emergency personnel and the teams give athletes and meeting place.Half of all ticket sales go back to high schools.
But think again, if this sounds like a half-hearted, glorified flag football game.
"Sometimes I'm amazed how intense games," says Tim Bishop, the Organization's State Director in Austin. "It is kind of like an all-star game ".
Players from each squad, are invited, when they sign up to list their high school credentials. they range from a college All-American, Frost's Johnny McRae, who earned glory by Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., to one Blooming Grove player if the performance read, "Hospitalized 25 opponents."
Frost Captain Ronnie Cooper said Polar Bears squad came faster than he expected. within one day of the hearing of the idea enrolled 25 players.
Polar Bears practice twice a week, including the much-needed conditioning, in preparation.
"I have already received oxygen tank ordered", he said, half-joking. "Believe me, we will be on that sucker. "

Backup QBs, like vultures in football pads
One of the most popular guys on a football team is the backup quarterback. These guys to bide their time waiting for a chance to play the game. They are mainly the vultures in football pads, and they want a piece of the action.
Remember that most second stringers in pro football has little experience as second-tier guys ahead of the pro game. They were always "guy" in the field. Little children worshipped them, and young female fans worshipped them even more.There is no shortage of cockiness in most good quarterbacks. lack of confidence will bypass a career in large quarterback busy in the world.
So today would like to discuss the backup quarterbacks in the CFL. One day you know them as household names, but in most cases, probably not.
Montreal Alouettes ' backups is lost in the shadow of the giant brilliant Anthony Calvillo, but Adrian McPherson will bide his time. McPherson was a college standout that lost its way with a few personal problems, he has proved to be a decent backup to Calvillo, but no one wants to see him as a full-time starter kits in Montreal just yet.
McPherson has decent enough skill and experience to win the pro games as a starter, he would simply never be a superstar in the CFL.
The backup quarterback in Hamilton is Quinton Porter. you can remember him from such CFL games such as "I used to be a startup Tiger Cat quarterback." Porter showed some early promise, but he has setback as a pro quarterback, and now he is probably just a placeholder on the duty roster unless he learns about the context as a quarterback.
Dalton Bell is the designated no. 2 guy in Toronto. He has a golden opportunity to Grab startsæts jobs because Cleo Lemon is not a CFL first-vingelængdedrage.Argos has yet to take off Bells training wheels, so it is difficult to make a solid read on lighthouse this early in the game.

Caleb checked his text messages around 2: 30 on Monday and found out he file handling in the typical Monday practice.
"We had different things to shake things up," said King.
On a normal would Monday, Georgia practice without pads, focus on specific groups.But with 1-4, desperate times require desperate measures.
So instead, mark Richt and staff decided to have a full pads practice Monday — something Richt "never" had done before — and hit each other.

"Normally, we would be in shorts and get a little running in and work on a couple of things, but we decided to put the pads on and get after it was very, very physical and very committed. "
Seniors Kris Durham and Vance Cuff had not seen it before in their years on the team but thought it was exactly the Bulldogs needs.
"It is not a normal everyday things, but all seemed to take it well, and get out there and work hard, so it was absolutely a positive thing," Durham said. "There was so much emotion out there … it was good to see the fight in everyone 's. it shows that we still have a positive Outlook on this season. "

King talks Colorado

Caleb King made it clear on Monday: his fumble on the final play Colorado game was not a Flea flicker, which some had theorized.

Nevertheless was toting rock 12 times a nice feeling for King, who missed the South Carolina and Arkansas game with a sprained ankle.
Durham return against Tennessee
Kris Durham warmed up against Colorado but medical personnel would clearly him to play due to a pinched nerve in the left side of his neck.
"It was the doctor decision. it was kind of a game-time, and they seemed ranging from for, I was ready to go," Durham said. "It was unfortunate, but they were looking for what was in my best interest ".

MOUNT VERNON — As Colt Football playoffs begin this weekend, there will be normal when the pads, clapping from coaches, Cheering from parents and fans. But for a team, there are some fans and even fewer jubilation.
John Corbett is a judge, and the crew chief. on this day, as he has done every week during the football season for the past three years, will he leads a team of three officials to keep the peace on a 100-yard stretch of field at Mount Vernon high school.
Retired computer Programmer Corbett began his acting career in 1968. He was strictly a baseball umpire in the year, including a stint in the minor leagues in the 1970s.Later, convicted he almost every team sport on students ' personal level. His first job as a football referee was 20 years ago. He fell in love with the job immediately.
"Football is my favorite, I think. just as I have been involved in each game.As a judge you work in free with control of the game. I enjoy this aspect of it, "said Mr Corbett.
As a certified official in the State of Ohio, he is qualified to operate almost any sport. But he goes out of its way to play judge to Colt football.
"I do a lot of travel. I have my roots at this level.I coached in a while.It takes me back, "Corbett said.
Each group has its fans and its opponents. This is not true for the judge.He does not listen to his fans, he will not receive applause. instead, boos and insulting. But a judge learns how to keep this from any effect in particular. one who officiates everything from colt football to high school.
"A Friday evening, because of the overall crowd noise, you can't hear any one person, very often," Corbett said. " But less plan, you can hear everything. "
Corbett says, he is more concerned with earning respect for the players and the coaches.
"Not always satisfied with what we do either. it is part of the game," says Mr Corbett.
This can be all too true. In last Sunday's Big game between the Vikings and big Cubs heard coaches and fans made their opinions in the whole.
"It is an illegal defence ref!"
"He kneed him in the head!Come! "
"Where is the call, ref?"
All on consecutive plays.
"You will never please the fans, so you should just grin and bear it," Corbett said.
Not to pick on the fans and coaches of Big Vikings nor Big Cubs.Similar shouts could be heard in all games on this day, and last week's game.And the week before the judge was Mr Corbett. Sometimes.Sometimes was another.The expected nothing.It was a man in a black and white stripped shirt.So he was the target.
"The best way to handle the fans is to ignore them, as soon as you recognise them, they will know they will get under your skin," Corbett said.
Buses, may, however, cannot be ignored; they are a part of the game, and as a judge Corbett has to recognise them.
"If the coach has a complaint about a call, I will try to listen to him when he gets, but personal, it is when I draw the line," Corbett said.
A lot of problems, he says, comes from the knowledge of the game.
"We have several problems at the lower levels, really, because of the experience gained from the coaches, sometimes you'll get. coach (at a lower level) who is just a volunteer, and who are just there because his kid plays," Corbett said.
' But there are exceptions, so I try to be patient and to treat them all straight, "he added.
Corbett will once again this Sunday, when the first round of the Colt Football playoffs place. once again, he will probably not get any jubilation. he gets applause. He will not sign autographs. He is a Colt football referee. and he would have wanted it any other way.

UK football Practice report: Wednesday
LEXINGTON, Ky – The University of Kentucky football team hit the practice field Wednesday morning with a lot of tension and a high energy level, first-year head coach Joker Phillips reported after the training. Wildcats practised in about two hours clad in shoulder pads, helmets and shorts.
"What a beautiful day," said Phillips."There was a lot of excitement in practice I still energy and what is going on here. we get better, definitively to get better, and we must.
Wildcats will welcome the top-10 ranked and South-Eastern Conference Eastern Division Head South Carolina Bluegrass State on Saturday. USC comes from an historic win, defeat the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 35-21 last week.
Phillips and UK team expects the same kind of intensity and focus beyond the Gamecocks this week, they had in the last week in taking down the country's nr. 1 ranked team.Phillips said that he did not anticipate the USC comes into the Commonwealth Stadium flat or unfocused.
"You see on his (Steve Spurrier) Roster and these guys have played together for a long time," said Phillips."His quarterback (Stephen Garcia) is a savvy guy, who has been around a long time and Steve has been in existence for a long time, of course, these guys will be ready to play."
On the injury front said Phillips, that there is no improvement in senior tailback Derrick Locke, who is recovering from shoulder stingers and an injured elbow, and that he is still in daily use.Sophomores Donald Russell and CoShik Williams, along with the freshman Raymond Sanders, has received most of the practice of the iterations in Locke said Phillips place. Wednesday, however, that the senior Fullback Moncell Allen also be able to see some game action at his previous position tailback.
"If we do we will dust from Moncell," said Phillips.
